Platform

One runtime at the line, one orchestrator, one record.

The Draweon platform is a plant-edge inference runtime on NVIDIA Jetson, a plant orchestrator with a policy engine, specialist agents for every section of the line, and an as-run twin that rehearses each run. Everything an agent does is typed, bounded and logged.

Architecture

Six layers, one loop

Perceive the conductor, plan the run, act inside limits, inspect continuously, optimise yield and takt, log everything, retrain. The layers below are the design, not a description of a shipped system.

Layer 01 · Connectors

Line, gauge, tester, camera and MES connectors

PLC and SCADA on drawing, stranding and extrusion lines, laser diameter and eccentricity gauges, eddy-current heads, spark testers, cameras, drives, annealer controls, extrusion heads, cooling zones, capstans, take-ups and quality systems. Signals are normalised into one time-aligned reel and length record.

Layer 02 · Plant-edge runtime

Perception and bounded control at the line

DeepStream and Holoscan process video and sensor streams on Jetson Orin. TensorRT-optimised models detect defects and drift; time-series models predict die wear, breaks, wall variation, conductivity risk and spark probability. Triton serves them with canary rollout by line.

Jetson OrinHoloscanTensorRTTriton

Layer 03 · Orchestrator and agents

Plan, arbitrate, approve, act

The plant orchestrator assigns work to specialist agents. Agents retrieve procedures and specs through permission-aware retrieval, evaluate action envelopes, ask for approval when required, and write through OT connectors only when safety gates pass.

plan.composepolicy.evaluateapproval.request

Layer 04 · Line twin

Simulate before you move

The Omniverse twin receives as-run telemetry, compares it with planned process windows, and tests candidate recipes before the next run. GPU CFD and thermal simulation for extrusion, drawing and stranding dynamics.

OmniversecuOptModulus (planned)

Layer 05 · Cloud training loop

Models, registry, reporting

Training, fleet model registry, versioning and enterprise reporting. Federated aggregation across plants is planned and waits on customer data-rights agreements. Per-tenant isolation throughout.

NeMoDGX or HGX (planned)registry

Layer 06 · Review console and audit

Humans in the loop, by design

A review console for process and extrusion engineers to approve, correct and give feedback. Corrections train the models. An append-only quality and safety audit log records every agent action from day one.

Core flow

Perceive, plan, run, sense, optimise, log, retrain

The core user flow, in order. Outputs are reviewed by a process or extrusion engineer whose corrections train the models.

  1. Perceive the rod, conductor or cable. Fused cameras, laser, eddy-current, spark and PLC signals, time-aligned to reel and length.
  2. Plan draw, anneal, strand, extrude and test. The orchestrator composes the run and the twin ranks candidate recipes.
  3. Run with adaptive die, line-speed and extrusion control. Bounded setpoint writes inside tag, rate and magnitude limits, at the autonomy level the plant has set.
  4. Sense and predict diameter, eccentricity, lumps, sparks and pinholes. Eddix scores cable health ahead of the tester and routes corrections upstream.
  5. Optimise yield, scrap, length, energy and takt. Yield-and-Takt prices each move and sequences changeovers and reel changes.
  6. Flag off-spec and safety risk, then log. Hold, quarantine or release, with the evidence written to genealogy.
  7. Retrain. Every supervised correction and reel outcome goes back into the models.

The standing recipe raises line speed and screw speed together. On the twin that produces a wall dip at zone 3 because the melt pressure lags the speed step. Sequencing the zone 3 temperature move ahead of the speed ramp removes it.

Multi-agent handoff

Agents negotiate, they do not collide

Two agents will want the same actuator. The orchestrator arbitrates on the run goal, not on who asked first, and the handoff is logged like any other step.

Contested move: EX-3 screw speed

  1. 01yield_takt.request(screw −1.2%) SUCCEEDED0.2 s

Yield-and-Takt wants to trim screw speed to reduce polymer give-away on the thick side of the wall.

  2. 02defect_inspect.request(screw +1.5%) SUCCEEDED0.2 s

Defect-and-Inspect wants to raise screw speed to clear a neckdown precursor at 12,480 m.

  3. 03orchestrator.arbitrate SUCCEEDED0.4 s

Neckdown risk 0.58 outranks 0.3% give-away under the run goal "zero spark faults". Defect-and-Inspect wins the actuator for 120 s.

  4. 04yield_takt.handoff(returned) SUCCEEDED120 s

Actuator returned. Yield-and-Takt recovers give-away through the cooling trough instead. Wall holds at 0.80 mm nominal.

Illustrative scenario.

Arbitration rules

  • Run goal first. Every request is scored against the declared goal, not the requesting agent's local objective.
  • Safety and dielectric outrank yield. A spark fault on a reel costs more than a fraction of a percent of polymer.
  • Time-boxed ownership. An agent holds a contested actuator for a bounded window, then must re-justify.
  • Everything is logged. The losing request, the score and the reason all appear in the run record.
  • Deadlocks escalate to a human rather than resolving by timeout.

Autonomy

Four levels, set per agent and per tag

A plant does not go from manual to unattended in one step. Draweon makes the level explicit, auditable and reversible at any time. The first release runs shadow mode, then assist mode, then graduated autonomy.

Physical AI, at the die train

Conductor moves at over a thousand metres a minute. Perception has to be local, deterministic and fast, so Draweon runs GPU inference at the plant edge and keeps training, simulation and optimisation in the cloud or on-prem.

Guardrails

An agent that can move a screw speed needs a leash

Draweon writes to production equipment. Every capability is scoped, every write is policy-checked, and every action is written to an append-only audit log the plant owns.

  • Bounded action space. Each agent writes only to an explicit tag allow-list, inside per-tag rate and magnitude limits.
  • Policy engine before every write. Autonomy level, shift, construction, interlock state and operator presence are evaluated before a setpoint moves.
  • Human-in-the-loop gates. Anything above the site threshold, such as line-speed ramps, die changes and reel release, waits for a named approver.
  • Immutable audit log. Append-only and exportable. Every action records source signals, retrieved procedures, predicted impact, allowed range, rollback condition, approver and reel scope.
  • Hard fallback. Loss of the edge node, the network or a model returns control to the line controller's last known-good state.
  • Tenant and IP isolation. Construction recipes, defect libraries and process memory never cross a customer boundary. On-prem deployment is available for sensitive producers.

FAQ

Straight answers

The questions plant directors and process engineers ask in the first meeting.

Yes, but only within an explicit tag allow-list with per-tag rate and magnitude limits, and only at the autonomy level your plant has set. Level 1 is advisory: Draweon recommends and a human enters everything. Design partners start there, in shadow mode, before supervised writes.

Start with one drawing, stranding or extrusion line and one measurable baseline. A paid pilot on wall and concentricity, break prediction or spark prediction shows the number before you commit further.
